Job Summary

Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (the Coalition) seeks a Program Specialist.  This position is responsible for providing training, technical assistance and support to member programs and communities statewide.

Who We Are

Established in 1983, the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence is a non-profit organization with the mission to end domestic and sexual violence in the lives of Tennesseans and to change societal attitudes and institutions that promote and condone violence, through public policy advocacy, education and activities that increase the capacity of programs and communities to address such violence. Serving as the state resource center on domestic and sexual violence, we foster statewide partnerships, develop effective programs, provide legal services and emergency financial assistance to survivors, and advocate for social change to end rape and abuse.

 

Job Responsibilities

Program Support/Development:

  • Prepare agencies to serve underserved populations by improving their cultural specificity and expanding services for this population
  • Support growth of meaningful relationships with culturally specific and service providers for underserved populations
  • Provide high quality support to advocates and allied professionals regarding victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking
  • Provide trauma and evidence informed services to allied professionals and advocates regarding trauma informed care of victims
  • Work to develop public awareness opportunities surrounding issues affecting domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Will recruit new partners and agencies
  • Evaluate programs and agencies on how they are serving underserved populations in their community
  • Compiling data for grant reports

Technical Support/Information Dissemination:

  • Provide training, technical assistance and public policy information on domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking to member programs, victims’ rights organizations and communities
  • Develop, review, revise and implement training curriculums and announcements
  • Update and revise websites as needed
  • Assist in gathering domestic violence, sexual assault, and victims of crime information for data collection and reports

Meeting Attendance:

  • Oversight of stakeholder meetings, including recruitment and integrating regional meetings with inclusivity meetings. Attend committee meetings as required
  • Represent agency at community meetings and events as requested
  • Attend Coalition’s specialist team meetings and staff meetings as scheduled

Communications:

  • Provide ongoing feedback to Assistant Director of Programs regarding programmatic issues
  • Respond to requests from programs and survivors, including distribution of resources
  • Prepare narrative reports to board and funders as needed

Networking and Advocacy:

  • Network with other agencies and systems providing services to domestic violence victims and sexual assault victims
  • Participate in community events including tabling events and resource sharing opportunities.  These events could take place beyond normal works hours.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Programs. This job profile is not intended to be all inclusive of tasks required, it is to provide a general description of essential job responsibilities.

Supervision:

Supervised by and accountable to the Assistant Director of Programs

Qualifications

  • At least three years experience working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the problems associated with violence against women and/or children
  • Demonstrated ability for organization and administration
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Demonstrated skills in oral, written and interpersonal communications, including computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and disseminate information

The position is full-time, remote. The role may require travel. The salary for this position ranges from $40,000 to $44,000 based on experience.
