Job Summary

The older girl specialist is responsible for organizing and delivering GSMIDTN programs, trainings and awards that meet the needs and interests of Girl Scouts throughout our 39 county service area, specifically focusing on those in 6th-12th grade.

Job Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
•    Develops, organizes, and delivers high quality programs that meet the needs and interests of our girl membership.
•    Develops and implements innovative ways to deliver programs to Older Girls, which include in-person programs, leadership and workforce development programs, and partnerships with nearby organizations to add value to the Girl Scout experience.
•    Develops and oversees all Older Girl trainings, partnering with other GSMIDTN teams as necessary.
•    Manages all aspects of the Highest Award process for girls, including application processing, communications, trainings and award delivery, ensuring adherence to GSUSA and GSMIDTN protocols, guidelines and dates.
•    Develops and implements campaigns and programming to ensure troop leaders and Older Girls feel equipped to complete Highest Awards.
•    Develops and implements summer camp intern and Counselor-In-Training programs in conjunction with the summer camp team, including, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring and evaluating those who are accepted.
•    Oversees and ensures the success of the Teen Leadership Council including actively partnering with local non-profits, businesses, and content experts.
•    Manages all aspects of the Agenia Clark Scholarship for Excellence in Leadership
•    Coordinates and ensures the delivery of periodic communications targeted specifically at older girls, leveraging relevant traditional and social media platforms.
•    Collaborates frequently with other members of the program team to plan and execute programs such as the Compass program and trainings/programs with Older Girl components.
•    Intermittently oversees part-time program facilitators and trainers
•    Maintains ongoing relationships with community partners, while cultivating relationships with new partners in the community.
•    Coordinates efforts with the Membership and Volunteer Resources teams to ensure seamless Older Girl recruitment.
•    Helps position Girl Scouting as a key community resource and expert in addressing older girls’ issues.
•    Models behavior consistent with the purpose, values, and mission of Girl Scouts of the USA and the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee.
•    Accepts additional responsibilities and performs other duties as delegated.

Qualifications

Education/Experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in education, or youth development or equivalent experience
•    Experience in program development and delivery with youth specifically with girls in 6th – 12th grade
•    Girl Scout experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•    Creative, outgoing, motivated and able to design and deliver quality programs.
•    Able to see projects through from conception to completion.
•    Highly developed and professional interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
•    Goal oriented, detail oriented, energetic and able to manage multiple tasks.
•    Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment.
•    Able to coordinate multiple projects at one time for large groups of 50 or more.
•    Able to handle sensitive information.
•    Able to work weekends as needed.
•    Demonstrated computer skills, preferably in Microsoft Office products.
•    Able to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including travel throughout our 39 county service area.
•    Ability to pass a background check.

Physical Working Conditions
•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.  The employee may lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be subject to outside environments, including uneven and/or unpredictable terrain and variable weather conditions typical of the region.
•    Daytime travel is sometimes required.
•    A current valid drivers’ license and access to transportation is required.
