Job Summary

The mission of the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee is to nurture and enhance the growth, development and opportunities for young black males of Middle Tennessee. To accomplish this, the organization provides multiple program offerings throughout the course of the year. The cornerstone of our programmatic efforts is the 100 KINGS which is a year-long, multi-year program providing academic enrichment and experiential learning opportunities.

The Program Leader is a part-time position which supports the programs of the organization. The programs vary and run for 6 weeks M-TH during the summer in a virtual environment via Zoom. The role involves working with Middle and high school male youth. In addition, the role will also engage with the members of the organization, corporate and community partners, parents and guardians of the boys.

Job Responsibilities

Summer schedule is M-TH for 6 weeks

Hours: 9:00am-12Noon (in some extenuating instances, the hours may vary)

The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Help Executive Director implement the 6-week curriculum
  • Provide guidance and counseling during all academic and experiential activities
  • Take attendance each day and record accordingly
  • Follow established agenda and ensure students are prepared when guest speakers arrive etc.
  • Monitor students at all times on Zoom and in breakouts to ensure paying attention, following directions, participating, etc.
  • Help students prepare for presentations
  • Supervise the students during field trips (this may not occur due to COVID-19)
  • Handle discipline issues as needed through coaching and discussion (major issues reported to ED)
  • Model the leadership behavior expected of the participants
  • Engage and build rapport with parents and guardians, 100 members, and community partners
  • Monitor the program participants during the Zoom sessions

Qualifications

Qualifications /Education Requirements /Preferred skills

College degree required; prior experience working with middle and/or high school students is preferred; background in STEAM is a plus; interest in working with young people; interest in community service and/or education; Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Strong project management, communication and organization skills.

Note: Certified MNPS teachers with current certificate earn $25/per hour. Non-certified pay scale TBD based on skills and experience. TBI background check required.
