Job Summary

Fellows develop purposeful relationships with children, churches, and colleagues through engaging in practices of vocational discernment, intentional community, and service as they lead afterschool enrichment programs in partnership with local churches in the Nashville area.

Job Responsibilities

  • You will develop and implement an afterschool program grounded in social-emotional learning, literacy, and developmental relationships. You will develop individualized strategies to support students by assessing needs, opportunities, engagement, and attendance, making program adjustments to best engage students in their own development. You will supervise part-time program assistants and volunteers.
  • You will collaborate with families, churches, and community groups to support and enhance the afterschool program, primarily through the Connect Team at your host church site. You will actively participate in the congregational life of the host church, building relationships that will enhance the program.
  • You will invest yourself in vocational discernment, lifelong learning, coaching, and other professional development activities, by attending and actively participating in staff meetings, devotion times, planning meetings, coaching sessions, and book clubs.
  • You will collaborate with Project Transformation staff to meet program objectives, completing administrative tasks that include but are not limited to managing program resources, communicating regularly via phone and email, and completing and submitting program paperwork. You will lead and oversee safety policy implementation at your program site. You will problem-solves situations in an effective and results-oriented manner, while recognizing circumstances where intervention is necessary, which could involve Project Transformation staff and/or referral to outside professionals. You will maintain confidentiality in situations deemed necessary.
  • You will review any major problems with and complete all duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Programming.

Qualifications

  • Energetic team player and creative problem-solver who values building relationships within and beyond the team to set and meet goals.
  • Experience working with children in marginalized communities and passion for creating spaces where all children can thrive.
  • Self-starter with the ability to follow a schedule, manage details, give and follow instructions, respond to supervision and solicit feedback to improve program quality and personal performance.
  • Great communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and video conference platforms.
  • Must have completed one year of college or be 19 years old at the time the Fellowship begins.
  • Previous service with Project Transformation while not required, is considered a strength.
  • Must be able to engage in public settings given current community health environment.
