Job Summary
Area of Responsibility: Production / Administration
Wage Classification: Full Time, Non-exempt
Position Summary: The Production Manager is a key member of Studio Tenn Theatre Company’s production and administration teams who is responsible for supervising all aspects of production including the hiring and supervision of all production personnel and some artistic personnel (in conjunction with the Artistic Director and Managing Director), working with directors and designers to ensure top quality productions, and maintaining artistic intent of all productions upon opening.
Reports to: Managing Director, Artistic Director
Direct Reports: Technical Director, Costume Shop Manager, Stage Management Personnel
Job Responsibilities
Production Manager will:
Work closely with the Managing Director/Producer to create show budgets for the Studio Tenn season (shows and special events)
Work alongside Managing Director/Producer and Artistic teams to manage show budgets and logistics
Communicate effectively with production designers and technicians to provide information, advice, and guidance to successfully complete projects, and to find cost-effective solutions to creative challenges
Work closely with the Associate Producer to create and maintain the production schedule for the Studio Tenn Season (shows and special events)
Work closely with the production team to schedule and manage Production Meetings and to coordinate schedules and needs of the artistic and technical staff while facilitating effective communication
Oversee the management/organization of load-in & load-out schedules
Assisting with recruitment and hiring, as well as the training and management of seasonal production staff
Maintain and enforce safe working environment in production shops, rehearsals, and during productions
Potentially perform additional responsibilities as determined by candidate’s experience and preferences
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3-5 years of experience with event management, budgeting, time management or other relevant skill
Experience in creating and tracking budgets, with track record of successfully managing production budgets
Strong knowledge of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) guidelines. Experience with SPT contracts preferred
Ability to manage crews with various skill sets.
Other Requirements:
Possess a valid Driver’s License
Ability to work long hours and work with a flexible schedule, including early morning, evening, and weekend hours as needed
Ability to work safely in an environment containing potentially hazardous equipment, fumes, vapor, gasses, and/or materials.
