Job Summary

Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency is seeking a Planning Manager. This position is an important part of the senior management team and works closely with the Community Liaison and Development Manager, Program Leadership, Deputy Director, Executive Director and the Board of Directors in the strategic operations of the Agency. The Planning Manager will have both internal and external facing responsibilities and will partner closely with the leadership team to chart MCCAA’s future growth and success. Candidate will be expected to travel throughout 7 county service area as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Assist leadership team in conducting long-range planning for the organization with an emphasis on funding, institutional ramifications, and program design

·Ensure all units within agency are working together to achieve the greatest impact within the community

·Responsible for the completion of Strategic Plan as well as ongoing monitoring and tracking of progress, reporting to leadership team and making suggestions for revisions as needed

·Implement strategic plans, based on data-driven analytics, projections and financials

· Assist leadership team in the establishment of performance metrics and the development of performance-based initiatives

· Assist with development of organization-wide or department-wide goals, objectives, policies and procedures

· Assist with the completion of Community Needs Assessment and Community Action Plans

· Assist with the planning and development of new initiatives and programs across the entire Agency

· Conduct analyses, as directed by program or executive staff, to identify program strengths and weaknesses, as well as areas for program expansion

· Research best practices in service provision in all related fields

· Plan new programs and initiatives that advance MCCAA’s mission

· Coordinate with leadership team to prepare long term strategies to achieve goals and evaluate performance of services, community outreach, and volunteer and fundraising programs

· Complete or assist with written proposals for new and continued funding for MCCAA’s programs, as well as reports to current funders as requested

· Develop relationships with potential funders and program stakeholders, and helps to sustain those relationships through regular phone contact, site visits, meetings, and written reports

· Create or assist with program and agency related communication materials including newsletters, brochures, Web content and special publications that highlight the specific work of MCCAA’s programs.

· Analyze and forecast for leadership team

· Review existing, new, and prospective program grants

· In coordination with leadership ensure communication, programs, and funding opportunities with foundations, grantors, funders, and community organizations

· Assist to develop various alliances, internally and externally, to achieve objectives

· Collaborate with policy experts to resolve complex issues

· Evaluate legislation and applicability to department and Agency projects

· Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities

· Participate in identifying and cultivating corporate, individual and foundation sponsors

· Coordinate with all leadership staff to represent agency at various meetings, attend related meetings, and participates in networking groups as necessary

· Reach out to organizations and the community to present MCCAA, its vision and services through public presentations and by attending relevant business events, conferences and gatherings

· Analyze all trends and identify and resolve all market trends

· Participate in other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Business, or related field required. The position requires 3-5 years’ experience in non-profit administration in positions of increasing responsibility and demonstrated leadership in program planning and development, grant writing/fundraising, or performance measurement and data management. Leadership or supervisory experience helpful. Experience with state and federal grants strongly encouraged. A combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered for the position.
