Job Responsibilities
So What Is This Job All About?
- Collection of lab specimens, including blood, urine, nasal swabs, throat swabs and other required specimens ordered through the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) by in house provider.
- Process collected specimens for in house testing for CLIA waived testing. Follow standards of practice for conduction and resulting in the data entry of results into the patients Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Process collected specimens and create requisitions to send out to local laboratories for processing and tracking the return of these results.
- Manage inquires between patients and outside laboratories regarding billing concerns.
- Assist nursing staff in collecting vitals and documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Qualifications
What We Need from You:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant and/or Certified Phlebotomist strongly preferred
- Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must be competent with venipuncture for both adult and pediatric patients.
- Outstanding communication skills. Bilingual communication a plus.
- Ability use and document in our Electronic Medical Record.
- Successful completion of Mercy Community Healthcare Caregiver Training and all applicable competency checklists and exams.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and clinical skills, and the ability to work with a wide variety of people.
