Job Summary

The part-time Academy Faculty member’s main focus is to implement School of Nashville Ballet’s instruction and ballet curriculum at the assigned level(s). The Academy Faculty member will work with the School Principal and fellow Faculty members to design, implement, and manage syllabus, to prepare students for advancement towards a professional career. 

 

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Teach in the School as directed by Academy Principal 
  • Exhibit a strong knowledge of Classical Ballet 
  • Learn and implement syllabus for Academy Division, ensuring that program of study follows the artistic vision of Nashville Ballet 
  • Possess strong awareness about the various needs and wants of students and parents 
  • Recognize that children respond to situations and environments differently 
  • Actively participate in individual and group faculty meetings and workshops regarding syllabus development and implementation 
  • Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance and performance in class 
  • With the supervision of the Academy Principal, coordinate parent/student conferences and/or communication related to student performance as needed 
  • Assist Academy Principal and artistic staff in the coordination and direction of all student performances  
  • Enforce school uniform and grooming policies 
  • Other duties as needed 

Qualifications

Work Requirements and Qualifications:

  1. Education:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; pedagogy training required
  2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to provide leadership  
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems 
  • Previous experience teaching children
