Job Summary
Did you know that up to 40% of youth experiencing homelessness identify as LGBTQ?
Help Nashville LGBTQ+ Young Adults experiencing homelessness in this rewarding overnight position. Nashville Launch Pad is starting an innovative program which goes beyond our regular emergency shelter. Guests will be in small groups of six with overnight accommodations in apartments.
The small staff to guest ratio means you have a chance to make a real impact on a young person coming off the streets or fleeing rejection or abuse from an intolerant family.
Your primary task is to create a welcoming, trauma-informed environment for the youth coming in at 8 pm, help them get settled and provide problem solving and a listening ear as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor young adults sharing an apartment from 8 pm to 8 am.
- Serve dinner to guests and help facilitate the evening tasks.
- Set up and facilitate self-serve breakfast.
- Spend time with guests and provide trauma-informed support.
Qualifications
- The ability to work an overnight shift beginning at 8 pm and ending around 8 am one to three nights per week.
- An even temperament with the ability to stay calm and problem-solve in a crisis.
- A commitment to providing a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ youth.
- A proven track record of reliability in a work environment, especially in terms of punctuality and minimal absences as well as communication of potential absences in a timely manner.
- A strong sense of boundaries to keep relationships with guests professional and healthy.
