Job Summary
Membership Specialists play a critical role in supporting all aspects of the recruiting and on-boarding process of girls and adult volunteers in the Outreach program. The Outreach program works with non-profits, community centers, family shelters, women’s shelters, and foster care organizations to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through grant-supported Girl Scout troops and/or Girl Scout programming in partner facilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Assists Outreach Coordinator in providing support for girl and adult membership recruitment and retention in the Outreach Program. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Visits schools in the program to deliver supplies, perform school talks, and run interest nights
- Processes registrations, supply requests, and uniform orders
- Contacts schools to setup recruitment assemblies and family interest nights
- Organizes materials for recruitment and assisting in delivery to schools
- Identifies and recruits girl and adult members/volunteers
- Assists in follow up with families who attend family interest nights
- Travels as necessary for delivery of supplies to Outreach troops and program sites in Davidson County and outlying areas.
- Maintains well-organized supply and badge/patch inventories
- Records necessary data on all aspects of the Outreach Program, including volunteer feedback and participant demographics
- Performs work duties and responsibilities with an attitude that reflects the council’s commitment to quality and to serving the needs of girls and volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education/Experience Required:
• Computer and Microsoft Office software proficiency
• Excellent human relations, verbal and written communication skills, motivational and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to encourage consensus and teamwork
• Ability to work with a diverse group of staff and volunteers
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Preferred Experience (not required):
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in Salesforce
• Bilingual English and Spanish/Arabic
• Experience with the Girl Scout program
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Possess a professional attitude and strong work ethic with exceptional customer service skills.
• Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule including some evening and weekend work and be willing to travel within an assigned territory.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check including a motor vehicle report.
• Strong belief in the mission of Girl Scouts and the ability to convey its importance to the public.
• Maintains effective teamwork through training, great communication and support.
• Organized, independent thinker and self-starter.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Current valid drivers’ license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
