Job Summary

SPECIAL KIDS IS A NON-PROFIT CHRISTIAN THERAPY AND NURSING CENTER FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, BASED IN MURFREESBORO, TN.

We are licensed professionals, but first we are Christ-followers with a mission to “serve Jesus Christ by caring for His children.” Special Kids offers professional services to children ages 3 months through 21 years. Nurse Techs, CNA’s (Certified Nurse Assistants) and MA’s (Medical Assistants) at Special Kids’ Kleinau Nursing Center serve medically fragile children who need skilled nursing care, in collaboration with LPN’s (Licensed Practical Nurses and RN’s (Registered Nurses). Full time, benefits, paid time off and holiday pay. No evenings, weekends or holidays.

Summary

Assists Nurses and Recreational Therapists in providing direct care for medical needs and activities of daily living for children enrolled in the Skilled Nursing and Equip programs.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists nurses with diaper changes, toileting, repositioning, and making beds
  • Obtains vital signs and informs the nurse of abnormal findings.
  • Assists with patient feedings.
  • Assists Recreational Therapists with daily activities.
  • Assists the Food Specialist with meal and snack prep, kitchen clean up and laundry.
  • Assists at Front Desk checking patients in and out of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, scanning documents into EMR system, answering and transferring phone calls, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Cleans work area and equipment as assigned and as needed throughout the workday.
  • Participates in department quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) Diploma (formerly GED) and successful completion of an approved nurse aide training program.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and web-based applications such as electronic medical records.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) (state license), Certified Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Nurse Tech required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification required.
