Job Summary

New American Staffing (NAS) LLC was established in 2019 as a social enterprise to benefit the nonprofit Nashville International Center for Empowerment (NICE). NAS is a human resources management social enterprise, intended to recruit and place hardworking and motivated workers at businesses, with a focus on placing immigrant and refugee workers. By providing this service, NAS alleviates cultural barriers between immigrant workers and employers, allowing businesses to connect with excellent employees while staying focused on their core business operations.

The Program Coordinator is a management program position that will report to the Program Director and will work closely with other programmatic team members in the organization. This is a 30 hour position with possibility to be full time.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate recruitment for program participants (both employers and employees)
  • Respond to calls and establish appointments for new employment candidates
  • Screen candidates and assist with onboarding paperwork
  • Process onboarding paperwork (including drug screening paperwork, E-verify and background checks)
  • Develop and maintain a filing system
  • Provide meaningful ongoing training
  • Check voicemails and emails throughout the day and respond to staff, candidates, employees, and employers in a timely manner.
  • Contact employers concerning open positions, employee time logs, and payroll questions
  • Enter employee documentation and time sheet information into payroll software
  • Create processes and procedures that will enhance staff productivity
  • Maintain good relationships with employees and employers
  • Prepare progress reporting to senior leadership

Qualifications

  • Background in business or related field
  • Experience working with diverse populations including immigrants
  • Strong organization and management skills
  • Basic high school math/core class proficiency
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to shape collaborations and partnerships with others
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks on timely matters

  • Strong written and oral English proficiency
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours on occasion, such as nights and weekends
  • Willingness to take on assignments provided that they support the organizational mission
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • High levels of self-motivation and independence
  • Familiarity with computer software, information databases, internet and email
  • Commitment to live and work in Nashville, Tennessee
  • Reliable transportation

A Bachelor’s degree or higher and a MINIMUM OF 1 YEAR experience in business management and/or related program is required.

Benefits

Salary is negotiable based on experience; paid vacation and holiday, medical reimbursement applied only when the position becomes 40 hours.
