Job Summary
The mission of the Andrew Jackson Foundation is to preserve The Hermitage, the home of President Andrew Jackson, to create learning opportunities, and to inspire citizenship through experiencing the life and unique impact of Jackson.
Job Function:
Secure all Andrew Jackson Foundation (AJF) property and provide a friendly, safe, and secure environment for site visitors and staff of The Hermitage.
Job Responsibilities
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct rounds and patrol grounds.
- Monitor buildings, grounds, and pathways for theft, fire, damage, or safety issues.
- Provide excellent customer service to our guests by responding to questions and welcoming guests as they arrive or when approached.
- Respond, investigate, and report on accidents and injuries incurred on AJF property.
- Monitor fire, burglar, and panic alarms, respond to alarms, and arm and disarm buildings as required by daily schedule or upon request by authorized personnel.
- Control access to keys, collections areas, cash, and personnel and financial information.
- Open and close buildings as required by daily schedule or upon request of authorized persons, turning lights and equipment on or off.
- Transport deposits, night drops, and change orders across property or to and from a bank.
- Control vendor access to AJF property.
- Thoroughly and concisely complete daily security logs documenting on site activities and alarms.
- See to the safety of staff and visitors on site after hours.
- Provide escort to vehicles as requested.
- Assist with the transportation of physically challenged visitors and staff to and from locations on the AJF’s property.
- Provide special event traffic control, crowd control, and parking assistance as required.
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Position Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Armed Guard’s License or ability to obtain a License upon hire including the ability to carry a weapon.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must have basic computer skills in order to operate alarm systems
- Execute job function and conduct daily operations consistent with AJF policies and procedures.
Museum Security Officers must:
- Maintain firearm training and certification.
- Maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, and the use of AED’s.
- Be able to: carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently; demonstrate teamwork and good interpersonal skills; present a professional demeanor; and maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform moderate physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force unassisted; stoop, bend, climb, and lift; walk multiple miles during a shift; stand and sit for long periods of time; work outdoors in all weather conditions and extremes; and stay awake and alert for 12 hours at a time.
