Job Summary

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Senior Content Producer, this position will play a leading role in the execution and creation of videos, photos, and written stories across a diverse set of Y programs, membership initiatives, events for key stakeholders, and donor communications. The Multimedia Content Producer creates engaging audio-visual content for the YMCA of Middle Tennessee—including but not limited to video production, still photography, and digital storytelling—on behalf of the organization’s programs and initiatives to engage key audience groups and further the Y’s non-profit mission.

Job Responsibilities

  • Models the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Model and put into practice behavior that supports inclusion and diversity
  • Assists with video production efforts as assigned for program/initiative content requests, including pre-production storyboarding and planning; filming and on-set producing; post-production editing; and digital optimizing/publishing
  • Assists with still photography requests from Creative Services and the Marketing Director to capture professional photographs for use in campaigns and creative assets, specifically images that further the Y’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
  • Writes and produces compelling stories and blog articles that drive engagement across Association channels and that can be repurposed with key audience segments
  • Owns the organization and cataloging of audiovisual assets and project requests to streamline video editing efforts among MarCom team members
  • Participates in brainstorming and pitching marketing campaigns and other creative concepts
  • Serves in a consulting role for internal and external video/multimedia projects as assigned, including providing editorial feedback to third-party contractors
  • Supports organization’s other marketing and communications efforts as assigned

Qualifications

  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Broadcast Production, or a related field
  • At least three years professional experience and proficiency in video or multimedia production (producing, filming, and editing) with a keen eye for finding and producing engaging stories; experience producing for television broadcast and still photography skills a plus
  • Strong video editing skills, specifically using the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience writing/producing to a brand’s voice, style and messaging standards
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, blogging platforms, web content management systems and popular social media platforms
  • Very strong organizational and planning skills with a demonstrated track record of managing/coordinating multimedia shoots
  • A proactive go-getter who has a passion for storytelling and strong attention to detail
  • A creative thinker who can produce stories that both engage selected audiences and fulfill an organization’s strategic objectives (professional content samples will be required of all serious candidates)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • A passion for the Y’s mission and work in the areas of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadline pressures
  • Superior interviewing, reporting and research skills
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • A love of learning and ability to keep up with current trends in marketing and content strategy
