Job Summary
The Healing Arts Project, Inc., seeks a person with professional art training and experience handling art. This position requires the ability to work up to 25 hours a week.
HAPI provides free classes taught by a professional artist to a person with mental illness. Additionally, HAPI encourages and advances HAPI artists by curating, managing, and promoting public exhibitions across Tennessee. Exhibits close to peer support centers allow artists and their peers to view their art publicly. Public display of their work builds artists’ confidence and pride in their abilities and brings a new degree of respect and support from their family and friends.

Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
The Middle TN Program Coordinator role at Healing Arts Project Inc. (HAPI) is multifaceted and impactful, blending creativity, organizational skills, and a passion for arts in mental health and addiction recovery. Here are the key responsibilities:
Art Program Management:
- Develop and oversee community-related art programs in Middle Tennessee.
- Ensure programs align with HAPI’s mission and strategic goals.
- Meticulously plan, execute, and evaluate each program.
Teacher Support:
- Assist contracted teachers by providing necessary resources and guidance.
- Facilitate clear communication between art sites and teachers.
- Collaborate to address challenges and find solutions.
Budget Oversight:
- Monitor program expenditures to stay within budget limits.
- Procure and distribute supplies efficiently.
- Stay informed about art mental health and addiction trends.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop actionable goals related to HAPI’s strategic plan.
- Set objectives and track progress using key performance indicators.
Community Engagement:
- Oversee all art-related activities in Middle TN.
- Design programs to meet community needs and achieve impact.
- Build positive partnerships with agencies and stakeholders.
Art Exhibitions:
- Creatively organize exhibitions: select themes, procure artwork, and manage logistics.
- Present artwork aesthetically and accessible to the public.
Artwork Management:
- Work with HAPI graduates and independent artists.
- Review and select artwork for donation, loan, or sale.
- Ensure accurate documentation of transactions.
Instructor Relationship Management:
- Facilitate training, orientation, and workshops for program staff.
- Align instructors with HAPI’s standards.
Administrative Tasks:
- Manage invoices, attendance records, and program documentation.
- Generate clear and concise reports for management and funding purposes.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with key constituencies.
- Self-directed style, ability to work independently, proactively, and efficiently with only moderate direction or supervision. Effectively follows through on assignments.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and identify and avoid conflict of interest.
- Work experience in customer relations, outreach,
- Computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft, Excel, and Zoom, an aptitude for technology, and the ability to learn other platforms as needed.
- Great organizational skills
- Prior administrative experience, ideally in a nonprofit or arts-related context.
- Strong organizational skills, excellent communication (written and verbal), and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-directed, proactive, and committed to HAPI’s mission.
Other Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Ability to maneuver or lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
- Working 70% of the time in the community
- Travel within the Middle TN region (other rural counties)
