Job Summary

The Mental Health Court Coordinator is responsible for providing court coordination and resource linkage for clients with mental health and/or co-occurring disorders. The Mental Health Court Coordinator reports to the Clinical Director.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures that accurate and current clinical records are maintained
  • Provide resource linkage when needed.
  • Assesses client’s presenting problems; develops, implements, and modifies, as necessary, client treatment plans.
  • Facilitates Intensive and Adult Outpatient group therapy sessions in-person and via telehealth.
  • Facilitates individual treatment sessions in-person and via telehealth as needed
  • Maintains an active caseload and operates within scope of practice of credentials.
  • Evaluates open cases with treatment team to provide proper crisis management and services.
  • Possess a proficient knowledge base and understanding of alcohol/drug abuse and addiction as well as mental health and co-occurring disorders. Additionally, engage in continuing education on current alcohol/drug abuse trends, mental health and treatment information.
  • Provide intake/readmission services.
  • Provide crisis intervention/supportive services to clients as needed.
  • Able to refer to clients to a higher level of care as needed.
  • Assist in prioritizing problems and needs of clients, and able to explain programs/services.
  • Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, case documentation, treatment plans and other documents as needed and within scope of practice.
  • Maintain and help with chart monitoring system, proficiency in TN WITS
  • Communicates with Executive Director, Clinical Director, colleagues, community agencies, and court personnel as needed to coordinate work activities.
  • Able to develop professional, helpful and effective relationships with clients.
  • Able to conduct alcohol and drug assessments on adults and juveniles.
  • Operates a computer, telephone system and fax machine to enter data, send documentation etc…
  • Must work hours as scheduled with some evening availability.
  • Attend conferences, meetings and training programs as needed/directed.
  • Maintains confidentiality and a high ethical conduct regarding all client information in accordance with 42 CFR, Section 2 HIPAA Confidentiality Regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Clinical Director

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in the behavioral health field, social work, counseling, psychology. Accompanied by work experience in the behavioral health field, as well as the criminal justice system.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Advanced knowledge and skills in care management for clients with mental health and/or co-occurring disorders or involved in the criminal justice system. Maturity and leadership qualities.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years within a behavioral health clinic, working knowledge of specialty (Recovery) courts (Mental Health, Drug Court, DUI and Veterans Treatment Court.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Master Level Social Worker (LMSW) with a minimum of three (3) years working within the behavioral health field interacting with the criminal justice system.
