The Dickson County Family YMCA is a young strong Y that impacts lives in Dickson County and surrounding communities every day. We are a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Dickson County Family YMCA is a 55,000 square foot facility, designed by GRO Development, in the heart of Dickson, TN. Only open for 6 years, our Y has accomplished many great things and has an incredibly bright future. Partnering with over 80+ community organizations and non-profits, the Dickson County Family YMCA is a true community center for Dickson County.

We are currently looking to expand our leadership team by adding a Membership Director who will be responsible for leading and growing membership at our facility. Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Membership Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the center’s welcome center and all membership services provided. S/he is responsible for the administration of all strategies to achieve member relationship development, marketing, membership sales and retention, corporate membership program and fundraising dollars, focusing specifically on increasing member participation in the Annual Giving campaign.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Ensure full implementation of the membership sales and retention model upon roll out
  • Monitor day to day operations to ensure all job expectations of Membership Sales Connectors and Membership Experience Connectors are being met
  • Responsible for the submission of all membership reports to the CEO
  • Responsible for ensuring all membership objectives and targets are met on the required basis (daily, monthly or yearly)
  • Ensure all aspects of the Corporate Membership Partnership Program is implemented to include enhancements and expansion of current corporate relationships as well as developing new relationships with new companies within Y’s geographical area
  • Implement and drive the “Value of the Member Experience” throughout the center, within every department and in collaboration with Center Leadership Staff utilizing “Living Our Cause” content where appropriate
  • Represent the YMCA within the community via social groups, schools, companies, organizations and other non-profits with the goal of developing, facilitating and strengthening relationships
  • In cooperation with marketing, oversee all center membership/marketing promotions and campaigns and ensure all departments within centers are included
  • Participate in the preparation and implementation of the center annual campaign giving plan for a successful member giving/community phase consistent with annual fund raising best practices and Association guidelines: this includes, goal setting, organizational charts, thank you plan, volunteer recruitment, donor cultivation/awareness tours, key indices, and benchmarks along the way
  • Oversee volunteer development, training, solicitation of donors, and coordination of staff roles within assigned community phase team
  • Hire, ensure completion of training, develop and supervise membership staff; develop and implement staff recognition and incentive program
  • Develop, implement, and manage budgets and all revenue projections within the membership department
  • Implement and monitor the financial assistance policy (Open Doors) within the Center
  • Serve as MOD and help facilitate MOD schedule within the Center’s leadership staff
  • Represent center at all State Membership Co-op meetings

Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of service within our Centers

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office and internet usage)
  • Articulate, strong and persuasive oral and written communication skills and listening ability
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the YMCA brand, programs and services
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; four year college degree preferred
  • YMCA experience with membership and face-to-face fund raising experience preferred
