Job Responsibilities

Who’s the ideal candidate? 

Someone who wants to make a tremendous difference in the lives of pets and people, and someone who believes that quality vet care should be accessible for all animals and families. Pet Community Center’s medical director will be a compassionate, dynamic veterinarian ready to provide both vision and leadership for our high-quality, high-volume (HQHV) spay/neuter practice as well as our wellness program, both of which serve thousands of pets and families each year.

We are looking for an individual who is eager to provide both strategic vision and hands-on leadership for Pet Community Center’s HQHV spay-neuter and wellness clinics, as well as help support our community-focused programs that focus on making pet ownership affordable and accessible to everyone.

Qualifications

What are the requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree
  • Current TN veterinary license and DEA license (or ability to obtain one quickly)
  • APHIS Accreditation (or the ability to obtain)
  • Experience practicing veterinary medicine in a high-volume environment, with additional full-service veterinary experience a plus
  • Management experience in a clinic, hospital or shelter, with experience in a dedicated HQHV clinic
  • Demonstrated excellent surgical skills with experience performing amputations, enucleations, and/or mass removals
  • Experience writing and developing protocols, as well as developing budgets
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Personal values that align with our core values of Compassion, Quality, Trust, and Community

Benefits

What are the benefits? 

  • Salary range is $115,000 to $120,000 based on experience
  • Ability to lead a team of veterinarians and work closely with PCC’s leadership team and other community partners to save lives and prevent pet homelessness
  • Opportunity to help open a new clinic and build capacity to deepen PCC’s programs and services
  • 4-day work week (Mon-Thur), 3-day weekends. (Note: the medical director is on call for any emergency situations that may arise.)
  • 9 Paid Holidays, 120 Hours of Accrued PTO

  • $1,000 continuing education (CE) budget, 5 days of paid leave for CE annually
