Job Summary

The Marketing Specialist works closely with Special Kids organization-wide, development and marketing team members to support the annual development plan, attainment of development revenue, marketing plan, staff recruitment and referral base for therapy and nursing services. In addition, this position coordinates, and implements marketing strategies, tactics and campaigns as identified by the Director of Development and Marketing and other Special Kids leadership team members.

 

Summary

The Marketing Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development of the overall marketing strategy for Special Kids based on knowledge of established objectives, market, and organizational characteristics to include referral sources, patient families, donors, sponsors, and potential supporters. This position collects and analyzes campaign results and metrics for promotion of events, social platforms, outreach, and e-mail communications utilizing the metrics to make recommendations for adjusting marketing.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Annual Planning: Coordinates the development and management of the strategic marketing strategy for events, campaigns, outreach, staff recruitment and referral sources ensuring that Special Kids raises funds, awareness, educates, encourages participation, recruits volunteers, communicates the value and impact of change.

 

Assists in the development of an annual multi-channel segmented communication and strategy plan for videos, interviews, events, campaigns, social postings, email communications, media interviews, press releases, and interactions to include:

  • Therapy
  • Nursing
  • Human Resources
  • Development/fundraising events and campaigns
  • Board of Directors
  • Sponsors and donors

Assists in the development of a multi-channel annual strategy and messaging of annual theme.

 

Works with the marketing committee in the development of messaging, content, videos, interviews, and success stories for content production.

 

Assists in the creation of an annual plan for website updating and new content.

 

Design and Content: Works with internal and external designers in the creation of print and digital materials and Special Kids marketing committee and development and marketing staff for content and content ideas used for organization promotions in the areas of:

  • Therapy
  • Nursing
  • Human Resources
  • Development fundraising campaigns and events: Spring and Fall Golf, Banquet, Race, Support of third-party fundraising events, and annual campaigns
  • Board of Directors
  • Sponsors and donors

Conducts post event marketing campaign evaluation for conversions and return on investment.

 

Finances and Revenue Generation: Marketing contributes to the overall department meeting of it’s financial goals and deadlines and contributes to enhancing sponsor and donor relationships through a multi-channel plan.

 

  • Assists in the recruitment and retention of monthly donors and the associated revenue through targeted multi-channel communications.
  • Assists in the recruitment and retention of event sponsors for events and associated revenue through multi-channel communications.
  • Assists in the recruitment of donors and associated revenue for all fundraising campaigns (The Big Payback, Hope Drive, Giving Tuesday, and others) by communicating with assigned accounts.
  • Reports on variances of budgeted to actual expenses for marketing.
  • Makes recommendations for modifications in the marketing budget to include boosting posts, increase effectiveness and efficiencies and potential cost savings of the department.

 

Administration: Works closely with development, marketing, and finance staff in establishing priorities, timelines, budgets, workplans and communicating updates. Utilizes multiple platforms in the delivery of a multi-channel communication strategy.

 

  • Meets target dates for deliverables by establishment of priorities, work plans and timelines.
  • Communicates and coordinates with Special Kids staff as necessary regarding events, priorities, assistance, and brainstorming.
  • Communicates with vendors, sponsors, donors, and community organizations as necessary.
  • Represents Special Kids at fundraising and community events as appropriate.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Journalism, Marketing, or other related field; related experience and/or training within a healthcare organization or non-profit preferred. Must have knowledge and understanding of Associated Press (AP) media writing style.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and a familiarity with Social Media platforms and blogging software/programs.
