Marketing Account Manager – Temporary Contract Role

The National Museum of African American Music, a rapidly growing, national, non-profit located in Nashville, TN, is seeking a Marketing Account Manager to join its team in a temporary contract role. The role will be responsible for executing the marketing strategy at the account level as aligned with the organization’s mission – to educate the world about the impact African Americans have on American culture through music.

NMAAM is the only museum dedicated to preserving the legacy and celebrating the accomplishments of the many music genres created, influenced, or inspired by African Americans. The Museum will share the story of the American Soundtrack, integrating history and interactive technology to bring the musical heroes of the past into the present.

Job Responsibilities

Marketing Management:

  • Assist in the development of presentations, proposals and reports
  • Work with Communications Manager and Marketing Coordinator to streamline all cross functional processes and requests
  • Draft communication pieces as necessary
  • Develop and establish inter-departmental process as it pertains marketing and communication requests
  • Provide administrative support and oversight for the other departments of the museum to ensure timely delivery, strategy and execution
  • Assist with Agency communication flow and execution

Partnership Development:

  • Demonstrated prior success developing new clients and revenue streams for an agency or professional services organization in the marketing industry including large, Fortune 1000 firms in either the media industry or with brand marketers in either consumer products, community organizations, or small to mid-size businesses.
  • Develop pitch decks, requests and delivery
  • Manage partnership process from pitch to execution

Qualifications

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including writing proposals and presentations, and delivering presentations to clients and in larger industry settings such as conferences or trade shows.
  • Superior networking and client outreach skills, including a well-established network of potential clients.
  • Ability to work independently after direction has been given
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, with people inside and outside the organization
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Capable of managing cross-functional teams — encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Demonstrate decision making and problem-solving skills — analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution
  • Proficient in prioritizing work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Job Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in business and marketing roles preferably in an agency setting
  • Previous marketing or business development experience within advertising agency or creative service/consulting business
  • Prior success developing revenue for new practice areas or industry segments in a professional services or agency setting
  • Bachelor’s degree…marketing, management, communications or related field
  • Proven track record of developing successful relationships
  • Confirmed and proven record of closing major accounts
  • Previous experience in developing partnership opportunities with clear deal parameters with an outlined ROI
  • Experience with working with a startup company, culture, and environment
