Job Summary

The Corporate Engagement Manager is a key member of Hands On’s Fundraising Team. The manager will work closely with the Associate Director of Corporate Engagement to support the organization’s fundraising efforts, with a concentration on donor prospecting, special events, and donor relationships. This position is also responsible for maintaining the donor management system to measure and achieve development goals.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Manages Hands On’s Corporate Engagement program
  • Conducts pitch meetings with companies to partner with Hands-On
  • Responds within two business days to requests for corporate volunteer events and sponsorships with Hands-On; takes the lead on drafting initial communications to Hands-On’s donors
  • Manages donor cultivation activities, which include identifying prospects and managing leads, cultivating relationships, securing corporate partner contracts, and stewarding donors through thank-you notes and impact reports
  • Solicits event sponsorships and coordinates the fulfillment of sponsorship benefits for the Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer Awards, Nashville Volunteer Week, and other Hands On fundraising events
  • Collaborates with the Workplace Engagement Team to support campaign partners’ volunteer efforts with Hands-On
  • Leads the organization’s cause marketing strategy to diversify revenue streams
  • Maintains excellent records in Salesforce and Andar, including proper tracking of the donor cycle, communications, and gift entry
  • Attends Hands On-led corporate volunteer events
  • Identifies additional funding opportunities, such as grants, that corporate partners may be interested in to support Hands On 

Hands-On Team Functions (Marginal) 

  • Provides volunteer leadership and support for disaster response activities, corporate projects, and special events, as needed 
  • Understands and prepares for unique team role in times of disaster, supports community preparedness efforts, and participates in disaster response activities 
  • Collaborates on the creation of promotional and storytelling content 
  • Participates in staff team-building and professional development activities 

Qualifications

Education:

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Qualifications:

  • Education or experience in nonprofit management, community engagement, event management, and/or relationship-driven fundraising or sales
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with exceptional customer service sense
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail 
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and takes initiative
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn new software quickly
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and/or Andar (or other donor-management software) is a plus
  • Has a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation for both regular work hours and special events
  • Ability to work some evenings/weekends. Some overnight travel may be required.
  • Ability to pass National Service Criminal History Check, including state, federal, and sex offender databases

Physical Demands:  Visual acuity, manual dexterity, hearing, driving, standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying 20 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform their essential duties.       

Working Conditions: 

  • Minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Based on volunteer project and event schedules, a position often requires work beyond traditional hours 
  • Flexible schedule required during special projects and events  
  • Work involves frequent interaction with other members of the United Way staff, volunteers, representatives of non-profit agencies, and the general public 
  • Occasional use of personal vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed) 
  • The employee is required to stand, walk, climb, and balance.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items work with the fingers and perform repetitive hand/wrist motions. 
  • Well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
