Job Summary

The Literacy Facilitator for the Teen Author Workshop and/or Carnegie Kids Club is responsible for creating an engaging and supportive learning environment that fosters literacy development and a love for writing among youth. This role involves leading interactive literacy sessions, developing age-appropriate curriculum, and providing mentorship to participants. The Literacy Facilitator will guide teens and children through the writing process, encourage creativity, and help refine their work for potential publication, all while promoting a positive, inclusive, and dynamic atmosphere that nurtures self-expression and literary growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate interactive literacy sessions and develop creative curriculum.
  • Mentor participants and provide feedback on their writing.
  • Foster a love for reading and writing through diverse activities.
  • Create an inclusive, positive environment for self-expression.
  • Collaborate with staff to align activities with program goals.
  • Help participants refine work for publication or showcases.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Education, Literature, Creative Writing, or related field.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Passion for fostering creativity and literacy in youth.
