Job Summary
Are you passionate about empowering young readers and fostering community connections? The YMCA of Middle TN is looking for a dynamic Y-Literacy Coordinator to lead our volunteer-based reading intervention program and help improve the literacy skills of children across Davidson County.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee our afterschool reading program, from recruiting students and volunteers to ensuring quality program operations.
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, families, and community partners.
- Conduct reading assessments and use data to track and improve student outcomes.
- Provide resources and guidance to families, volunteers, and participants to foster a love of reading.
- Organize events, secure program spaces, and represent the YMCA at community outreach opportunities.
Qualifications
- Minimum age 21 with a valid driver’s license.
- Bachelor’s degree (related field preferred) with 1-2 years of experience in literacy programming, OR high school diploma with 4 years of experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a knack for multitasking.
