Saddle Up!’s mission is to provide children and youth with disabilities the opportunity to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational, and recreational activities with horses. Saddle Up! is the oldest and largest program of its kind in the region, and the only one exclusively serving children and youth who have disabilities. We are a Premier Center accredited by PATH International, the organization that sets the standards for safety and quality in equine-assisted programs.

We are looking for a part-time (10+ hrs/week) OR full-time Lesson Assistant to join our team!

This rewarding, hands-on position will be responsible for:

• Assisting in lessons, preparing horses, leading, or sidewalking
• Supporting new volunteers as they join our lesson schedule
• Helping maintain cleanliness and organization of the arena, tack room, & barn areas

Qualifications

Saddle Up! provides training to new Lesson Assistants, but prior horse experience is required. The right person should have prior knowledge and demonstration of safe horse handling, grooming, and tacking skills.  Typically 5 years of hands-on horse experience is required; experience with children and young adults with special needs is highly desired.
