Job Summary

The Legal Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the logistics and daily functioning of the legal
department and maintaining client communications for affirmative immigration applications, primarily
in the areas of DACA and citizenship.

Job Responsibilities

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Services:
● Manage the logistics and daily functioning of the legal services program, including handling
incoming mail, taking responsibility for the legal services phone line, and arranging appointments
with potential clients.
● Serve as the point-of-contact for potential and current legal clients, ensuring continuity and
availability of communication with the individuals we serve.
● Assist Staff Attorney with direct representation of clients in affirmative immigration applications.
● Assist Staff attorney with collecting, copying, organizing, processing, and reviewing client
documents related to immigration applications.
● Manage the creation of client and community information materials, collaborating with the Staff
Attorney and Organizing Team to ensure legal accuracy and effective dissemination.
● Provide support as needed for the DACA navigator program, including matching legal clients with
the program and placing “graduated” clients with attorneys.
● Manage the organizing aspect of Legal Services to ensure that legal clients are connected to the
broader movement.
● Assist with development and implementation of capacity building models such as legal workshops
and clinics, including managing communication with volunteers and pro bono attorneys.
Rapid Response:
● Coordinate with legal services and organizing team to maintain plan for office-wide response to
ICE enforcement activity.
● Coordinate the legal team’s emergency response to ICE enforcement activity.
● Conduct intakes and information gathering interviews related to immigration arrests.

Qualifications

Fluency in English and Spanish.
● Belief in TIRRC’s mission and experience with social justice movements.
● Ability to work on deadline, be very organized, and work with little supervision.
● Experience in social work, legal work, or client support services.
● Ability to juggle multiple buckets of work and prioritize.
● Possess excellent communication skills, for working with both clients and attorneys.
● Basic computer and internet skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel.
● Availability to work flexible hours, including some nights,weekends, and travel.
● Must have reliable transportation and valid driver license.
