Job Summary
Tennessee Lions Charities has served the children of Tennessee since 1995. We worked with Vanderbilt University to develop one of the first pediatric vision screening programs in the nation. Our KidSight Outreach vision screening program has provided free vision screenings and follow-up to over 650,000 children in Tennessee.
There are three essential parts to our KidSight Outreach vision screening program. The first part is the screening. Screenings are conducted by Lions Club volunteers in their local communities. Part two of KidSight Outreach is data management and results processing. Results from local screenings are mailed to our office in Nashville for processing. We average between 25,000 – 30,000 participants a year. Data from the screenings are stored in a HIPAA compliant database. The children’s schools and parents are notified of results promptly. Assisting with the processing of these screening results would be the primary focus of the KidSight Outreach Assistant position. The third aspect of KidSight Outreach is the follow-up. Our staff follows up with the parents of every child referred by our program to ensure that they receive the treatment needed. The KidSight Outreach Assistant would assist minimally in this aspect of the program. The KidSight Outreach Assistant would also help with grant writing and patron service.
Currently, the KidSight Outreach Assistant position is a part-time position with the opportunity to advance to full-time employment.
