Job Summary
Enterprise Summary: Justice Industries is a faith-based organization that helps move the chronically unemployed or under-employed toward financial stability by creating social enterprise businesses and business partnerships that provide employment opportunities for those with barriers to traditional employment.
Justice Industries is a three-time CNM Salute to Excellence nominee and has been invited to participate in the REDF Accelerator, a nationally-recognized social enterprise development program. They have also been included in the Nashville Scene “Best Of” list in 2021 and 2022.
Position Overview: The Interim Executive Director of Justice Industries serves as the single point of connection for all facets of Justice Industries, focusing on initiatives that move the mission toward financial sustainability, by
- Expanding social enterprise revenue (Glass Recycling and Mobile Car Wash)
- Retaining current customers
- Gaining new customers and partners for current businesses
- Expanding business offerings
- Managing individual donor and foundation relationships, including grant writing.
Job Responsibilities
The Executive Director also builds a healthy pipeline of potential employees and ensures that robust employee-development processes are in place employees, in keeping with the vision and values of Justice Industries.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Business Development—Strategically expand the work of Justice Industries by expanding the customer base of current enterprises.
- Strategic Sales—Oversee the staff hired to expand JI’s current customer base.
- Fundraising—In partnership with the JI board of directors, manage and execute integrated fundraising efforts with individual donors, churches, and foundations at a level sufficient to fulfill the mission of JI.
- Strategic Staffing—Hiring, onboarding, and managing sales, marketing, design, finance, and business development staff as needed, to fully meet the requirements of responsibilities 1-3 above.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Employee Development—Sustain and continually update JI’s strategic processes for hiring, managing, and releasing employees, with a specific focus on developing those without a strong employment track record.
- Board Development—Work with the board chair to leverage the unique gifts and responsibilities of the governing board to ensure JI’s progress in achieving its mission.
- Staff Management—Ensure that the Justice Industries’ staff successfully manage JI’s ongoing operations, including Just. Glass, weekly marketing, customer service, employee communication, financial accountability, etc.
- Identifying Opportunities—Identify and seize opportunities for new partnerships, programs, and innovative initiatives when aligned with the mission and goals of Justice Industries.
Qualifications
Desired Qualities:
- Strong commitment to the vision, mission, and purpose of Justice Industries.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of leadership experience
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required with at least two years of experience working with disadvantaged communities in a nonprofit setting.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be able to communicate and build relationships within the community as well as clearly articulate to volunteers and employees what is expected of them.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once.
- High level of self-motivation; willing and able to start something new and/or think of new solutions.
- A joyful, energetic communication and collaboration style
- Proven track record of managing people.
- Proficient use of MS Office Suite, QB Time, and Google Suite.
- Ability to troubleshoot, pivot, and problem-solve flexibly.
- Proven success in sales and business development
