Job Summary
The Independent Living Manager will oversee and manage the Phase 2, Independent Living, and Phase 4, Semi-Independent Living, residential homes to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the households. The manager will provide supervision and support to the residents in order to create a safe living environment where all residents are empowered to live as independently as possible.
Job Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
- Develop and implement residential programs in accordance with Center policies to include house rules, household chores, social activities, ADLs and other appropriate programs as determined necessary to help the residents thrive in their daily home and work life
- Conduct quarterly reviews of Phase 2 and 4 resident programs in cooperation with the Residential Manager and the Vocational Manager to adapt and modify programs as needed
- Attend and participate in bi-monthly meetings with the management team and psychiatrist
Coordination of Care
- Maintain daily notes for Phase 4 residents and weekly notes for Phase 2 residents, documenting progress, abnormal or concerning behaviors, and significant events
- Develop and manage monthly plans of care, collaborating with residents to ensure optimal outcomes
- Develop individualized behavioral plans, when necessary, to support resident needs including behavior, safety, ADLs, or life skills
- Act as a central point of contact for communication with families
House Management Responsibilities
- Maintain inventory of house supplies.
- Maintain upkeep of the house, reporting any broken/damaged items and/or necessary repairs as needed to the residential manager and executive director
- Document all Phase 2 and Phase 4 program expenses and submit receipts monthly
- Review, prepare, and maintain accurate and current written records of house safety, such as quarterly fire drills, as required by state licensure
Programming Responsibilities
- Inspect Phase 2 weekly and Phase 4 daily to ensure all residents complete chores effectively.
- Attend Phase 4 resident medical appointments, reporting as needed to the Healthcare Manager
- Ensure that Phase 2 residents are regularly maintaining their medical care and reporting to the Healthcare Manager
- Provide weekly supervision of Phase 2 resident and daily supervision of Phase 4 resident medication management according to prescribed medicines and corresponding schedule.
- Assist / supervise resident money management, providing tools and systems to ensure financial literacy and success
- Provide therapeutic interventions for individual residents as needed
- Resolve household disputes in a therapeutic manner while empowering residents to advocate for themselves respectfully and effectively.
- Provide transportation using Center vehicles when needed for resident medical and employment appointments
- Schedule and facilitate at least one house meeting per month
- Schedule and facilitate quarterly group activities/outings/events to foster socialization
- Assist the management team with orienting new residents and discharging departing residents
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University or an Associate Degree in addition to 3+ years of relevant experience working with individuals with mental illness and behavioral challenges
- Strong interpersonal and relational support skills, such as guiding, confronting, advising, delegating, and redirecting in a therapeutic manner
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Google Drive
- Ability to problem solve quickly and adapt to change smoothly
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Must be willing to provide care and oversight when residents are ill
- Must pass a background check and have reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance
