Job Summary
PostGrad Ready (PGR) is a nonprofit initiative committed to equipping middle and high school students with the knowledge, tools, and support to achieve success after high school graduation. We focus on eliminating barriers to postsecondary education, career access, and personal growth through community partnerships, direct support, and strategic programming.
Board members serve as strategic leaders and ambassadors for PostGrad Ready. They provide governance, financial oversight, and resource development to ensure the organization thrives and remains true to its mission.
Reports to: Chairperson of the Board
Term Length: 2 years, renewable upon mutual agreement
Commitment: Attend bi-monthly board meetings and serve on at least one committee
Job Responsibilities
Mission Alignment
- Embrace and uphold the mission of PostGrad Ready
- Actively promote the organization’s values and goals in the community
Governance and Strategy
- Attend and contribute to bi-monthly board meetings
- Help shape strategic priorities, vision, and goals
- Provide oversight of policies, programs, and organizational health
Financial Stewardship
- Review and approve annual budgets and audits
- Monitor financial performance and ensure sustainability
- Make a personally meaningful annual financial contribution
Fundraising and Advocacy
- Support fundraising efforts through personal contributions, donor outreach, and event participation
- Advocate for PGR within your networks and help expand visibility
Committee Involvement
- Serve on at least one committee or ad hoc working group, as needed
- Contribute time, expertise, and relationships to help advance organizational initiatives
Organizational Integrity
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive organizational information
- Disclose any potential conflicts of interest
Qualifications
- A passion for educational equity and youth development
- Experience in nonprofit, education, business, or community leadership
- Willingness to actively contribute time, talent, and resources
