Job Summary

Nashville International Center for Empowerment (NICE), established in 2005, is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 community base organization dedicated to ensure refugees and immigrants achieve their full potentials now and for generations to come. The Immigration Specialist will report to the Immigration Manager. This is a full-time 40 hour position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Determine client meets required eligibility guidelines for services and assist client with all required forms filled out accurately
  • Compile data, write and submit monthly and quarterly reports
  • Provide accurately completed and required documents to supervisors within specified deadline
  • Update and maintain client database spreadsheet
  • Keep up with changes in immigration law through USCIS or other networks
  • Outreach in the community to build partnerships and maintain existing relationships
  • Supervise case files to ensure completion and compliance with immigration requirements
  • Communicate with Program Manager on updates, program progress, strategies and challenges
  • Communicate immigration law changes with other departments as necessary
  • Maintain sensitive information to ensure client privacy
  • Provide client follow up as needed and record feedback

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic immigration law
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work well individually and without much supervision
  • Ability to work with teams as needed
  • Proficient use of computers, Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to learn to use database
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or at least 3 years’ experience in immigration field

*Consideration will be given to current or former Department of Justice (DOJ, formerly BIA) accredited individuals or individuals with experience
