Job Summary

The Part-Time Immigration Attorney is responsible for providing legal advice and representation to immigrant and trafficked victims of domestic and sexual violence in immigration cases and for providing training and technical assistance to communities on immigrant issues.

Job Responsibilities

Client Representation

  • Provides legal advice and representation to immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking
  • Assists in collecting and managing client-related data
  • Makes referrals as necessary

Training and Technical Assistance:

  • Provides training and technical assistance on legal issues related to immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking

Communications:

  • Assists in Immigration Clinic outreach activities

Meeting Attendance:

  • Attends Legal Team and Coalition staff meetings as required
  • Attends trainings, conferences, outreach, and other meetings as needed

Other Duties:

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Law degree and license to practice law or eligible for admission
  • Knowledge of and experience with immigration law is preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault is preferred, but not required
  • Excellent research, writing, and training skills
  • Fluency in languages other than English and cultural knowledge are a plus
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and LEXIS Law Publishing programs
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Some travel required

The position is part-time. Remote work will be allowed for this position. The role may require travel. The salary for this position ranges from $28,000 to $32,000 based on experience. We offer excellent prorated benefits such as flexible schedule, remote work, vacation and sick leave, paid federal and state holidays, and employer contribution match to retirement IRA.
