Job Summary
Do you want to conduct tours at one of the oldest and most visited presidential museums in the United States, for guests from throughout the world? Then this is the job for you!
Foundation Mission: Preserve The Hermitage, the home of President Andrew Jackson, create learning opportunities and inspire citizenship through experiencing the life and unique impact of Jackson.
Purpose: Provide historical interpretation of the Andrew Jackson Foundation’s properties, welcoming guests and presenting guided historical tours.
Job Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide guided historical tours for a wide range of visitors
- Assist physically challenged and non-English speaking visitors
- Provide physical security for the mansion and assist visitors in emergency situations
- Answer visitor questions relating to Andrew Jackson’s life and legacy, family and properties, and the enslaved African-Americans that worked at the site
- Participate in the training programs for historical interpreters
- Comply with established dress and grooming requirements
- Provide reports as requested
Qualifications
Education/Training:
High school diploma required. Some college preferred.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Interest in history
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Courtesy and tact in dealing with the public
- Ability to interact with all ages, nationalities, and those who are physically challenged
- Professional demeanor
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
