Nashville Rescue Mission is actively seeking Men’s Guest Services Specialists to join our team. Are you the right person?

You’re Alert & On Guard

Are you concerned about the safety and security of those around you? Are you always alert and paying attention to detail? This job requires the ability to stay focused and avoid distractions to ensure the safety of the area you oversee and protect. You will be responsible for walking assigned internal zones of the Mission to maintain security. You will monitor entrances and promptly responds to monitor room requests for observed questionable activity.

You’re Calm & Confident

A person who doesn’t get riled easily is a good candidate for this job. You are in frequent close quarters with Mission guests as they enter and exit the building. You must be able to handle disruptions or disputes that might arise, keep your temper in check, and maintain control of the situation. The right person for this job can’t react angrily or violently to those who cause disruptions.

You’re A Go-Getter

The ideal candidate for this position is willing to take the initiative and do whatever needs to be done to complete the task. You don’t mind getting your hands dirty and pitching in to help.

Job Responsibilities

Maintain order and security during assigned shift, by performing any combination of essential duties as assigned, in any of the physical locations as assigned, as follows:

1. STATIC: one location, for example, pat-down area, cafeteria, chapel.

2. MOBILE: walking or driving external zones including property perimeter and parking lot.

3. ZONE CHECKS: assigned area inside the facility.

4. WELCOME CENTER: observing activity on the closed-circuit camera system as well as within the immediate vicinity, responding to hand-held radio requests for assistance or other service calls, and telephone reception duties.

Uphold the Mission Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct at all times.

Essential Duties:

1. Screens all guests entering through walk-through metal detectors by using proper pat-down procedures.

2. Maintains order among guests and protects property, visitors, volunteers, and other guests within active zone rotation.

3. Diligently monitors security cameras in the monitor room to observe activity on the close circuit camera system, as well as within the immediate vicinity of the Welcome Center, responding to hand-held requests for assistance or other service calls, and telephone reception duties.

4. Performs telephone reception duties.

5. Occasionally supervises Guest Volunteer Program (GVP) in completing housekeeping or other internal jobs.

6. Demonstrates good judgment, common sense, follows directions from supervisors.

7. Takes charge and directs others in emergencies or other dangerous situations.

8. Abides by all NRM policies and procedures, giving priority to safety and security procedures.

9. Exhibits professional appearance at all times by wearing clean jeans or khakis, Mission shirts, and security vests.

10. Communicates via two-way radio (walkie-talkie) and/or telephone to a variety of first responders (Police, EMTs, and ambulance) as needed.

11. Assists front desk staff in storing guest luggage, clearing lockers, directing guests to appropriate assistance.

12. Assists in the issuance of short-term guest parking permits.

13. Walks or drives assigned external zones on predetermined schedules to maintain the security of the parking lot and Mission property/perimeter. Promptly responds to requests to check on observed questionable activity.

14. Walks assigned internal zones of Mission to maintain security, monitors Welcome Center entrances, and promptly responds to requests for observed questionable activity.

15. Keeps exits and entrances clear and maintains lockdown areas as specified.

16. Maintains an orderly, clean and safe work environment with the Guest Services work area.

17. Aligns motives, values, and beliefs with Nashville Rescue Mission’s values.

18. Works as a team player and recognizes that his/her actions directly impact the hospitable performance and reputation of Nashville Rescue Mission and Mission’s Statement of Faith.

19. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position.

Other Duties:

1. Performs regular duties associated with the guest database.

2. Performs all other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor or management.

Qualifications

  • Committed Christian.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment, such as computers, copiers, and printers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and communicate written and verbally.
  • Frequent bending and/or lifting and ability to move up to 25 lbs.

RETIREMENT
