Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY

The Grants Specialist is an individual contributor who works with the Director of Research and Grants in the preparation, writing, submission, fulfillment, tracking and compliance of grants in support of a wide variety of agency needs. The Grant Specialist’s grant responsibilities include maintaining internal electronic and hard-copy records as well as external distribution of supporting materials as required by the respective funder. This position also supports Board relations and other administrative activities through the development, distribution and retention of Board, Executive Committee, Advisory Council and Strategic Planning meeting materials and minutes in an accurate and confidential manner. The Grants Specialist reports to the Director of Research and Grants. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville (HFHGN) provides homeownership opportunities for working men and women in our community who are unable to qualify for a traditional mortgage loan and operates three retail stores that sell donated home and office furnishings and building supplies to the public. Grants are an essential source of funding in support of this work.

Job Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Secures grant funding from corporations, foundations and faith institutions in support of agency programs and initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Research and Grants
  • Supports government grant writing, fulfillment and other activities under the direction of the Director of Research and Grants
  • Prepares and archives grant related documents using Word, Excel, Adobe, and/or PowerPoint, utilizing Drop Box, SharePoint, Salesforce, and a variety of online grant application portals
  • Supports grant compliance reviews and related activities
  • Communicates clearly and collaborates effectively with agency staff and grant funders regarding grant requirements, status and fulfillment, both orally and in writing
  • Supports Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Advisory Council, Strategic Planning and other administrative processes and meetings under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years’ relevant work experience required; minimum of 1-2 years in a grant-writing or other grants management role or activities strongly preferred
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce (or other data base software)
  • Meticulous attention to detail and deadline management
  • Excellent time-management, communication, documentation and organization skills
  • Ability and desire to work respectfully with people of all cultures, languages, national origins, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions and other diversity factors, conducting all activities in accordance with HFHGN principles and policies
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
