Job Summary

Love and encourage Men of Valor staff, volunteers, and participants in such a way that reflects and honors Christ.  The Grants Fiscal Analyst will work closely with the Director of Finance & Administration, the Accounting Specialist, and the Grants Coordinator to manage and analyze financial data for grants while ensuring grant financial records are accurate and reported by assigned deadlines.

The Grants Fiscal Analyst will report to our Director of Finance & Administration and will be a remote worker reporting to our Valor Ridge campus in Antioch, TN.

Job Responsibilities

Financial Management of Grants:

  • Monitor and track the financial status of grants: Ensure accurate allocation of funds in compliance with grant agreements.
  • Process Financial Transactions: Timely and accurate processing of grant expenses, including invoices, reimbursements, and financial reports.
  • Reconciliation: Reconciled grant-related financial data with the organization’s accounting system.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist Grant Budget Preparation: Assist in preparing grant budgets, including detailed cost breakdowns for grant applications and proposals.
  • Expenditure Forecasting and Monitoring: Monitor and forecast spending trends, ensuring grant funds are appropriately allocated within timelines and expenditures are accurately reported in relation to approved budgets to prevent cost overruns.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Accounting Specialist to ensure that Grant Revenues and Expenditures are included in the overall budget and forecasting processes.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Reporting: Prepare and submit required financial reports for grantors, ensuring deadlines and grantor guidelines are met.
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to grant funding.
  • Audit Assistance: Assist in audits by responding to inquiries regarding grants and providing supporting documentation.

Record Keeping and Documentation:

  • Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of grant-related financial transactions, including receipts, contracts, and budget documents.
  • Ensure Accessibility: Ensure that financial documentation is available for internal and external review.

Grant Management Support:

  • Collaboration with Program Managers: Work with program managers and grant administrators to ensure efficient use of grant funds and resolve financial issues as needed.
  • Fiscal Guidance: Provide guidance on proper fiscal practices and help with troubleshooting any discrepancies or issues.
  • Tracking Renewals/Closeouts Assist in tracking grant renewal and closeout processes.

Process Improvement:

  • Suggest Improvements: Propose enhancements for internal controls, fiscal processes, and policies related to grant management.
  • Streamline Processes: Help improve procedures for submitting and tracking grant-related expenses.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other ad-hoc financial or administrative tasks, as required by the organization.

  • Proficient in knowledge of accounting and cost allocation principles.
  • Exceptional time management, math, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel and Word.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookup formulas, conditional formatting, etc.).
  • Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment, Google, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and other related applications.  Use of these tools will be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of relevant work experience as a Fiscal Analyst or similar role; Non-profit or grant experience a plus.
  • A valid driver’s license and current personal automobile insurance.
  • Minimum travel requirements to attend ministry events, fundraisers, trainings, and meetings.
