Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief of Strategy and Transformation, the Grants Administrator will focus on overseeing the grant application and management process including growing the current portfolio of grant awards through new funding sources. The Grants Administrator must be able to persuasively communicate Girl Scout’s mission and programs to potential funders as well as conduct research and maintain detailed records for outcome reporting. Additionally, the Grants Administrator will be an active participant in all fund development activities including special events, direct mail campaigns, sponsorship solicitation, etc.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and write persuasive grant proposals to grant-making organizations that adequately communicate the organization’s mission and programs
- Research granting sources and continuously seek new grant opportunities. The ability to increase and diversify grand funding will be crucial to the success of this role.
- Maintain grant calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports; Follow-through, dependability, and accuracy are required.
- Continuously collaborate with various departments to better understand program needs and identify funding opportunities
- Provide and maintain a current grant schedule for GSMIDTN and the CEO with current grant details.
- Maintain appropriate grant records, both hard copy and electronic files including adding necessary details to the donor database
- Provide oversight that grant requirements are being met.
- Maintain a database of grant/foundation/corporate funding opportunities.
- Strong skills in prioritizing work plans and working independently to meet deadlines.
- Maintain an awareness of GSMIDTN programs and funded initiatives.
- Be familiar with United Way OBI and other information tracking requirements.
- Coordinate and integrate with other staff departments, especially membership, programs, and finance, to ensure successful coordination and implementation of grant proposals.
- Actively participate in all fund development initiatives to ensure the success of the department. This includes, but is not limited to, special events, direct mail campaigns, donor newsletters, annual reports, etc.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate innovative ways to diversify funding resources.
- Maintain and improve relationships with current and past donors through email blasts, letters, annual reports, and other means.
- Assist in expanding participation in the major giving society.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and experience equivalent to three to five years in fundraising. Proven success in grant writing is required.
- Prior demonstrated experience successfully managing grant portfolios.
- Knowledge and experience of fundraising campaigns and special event execution
- Experience in volunteer management and an ability to work with a diverse group of staff and donors.
- Strong skills in prioritizing work plans and working independently to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with Girl Scout programs and a passion for the mission of the organization are highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Ability to craft clear and persuasive written communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Middle Tennessee’s business influencers and civic networks.
- Organized, independent thinker and self-starter.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including some evening and weekend work.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge database preferred.
