Job Summary

The Grant Coordinator for the Creative Arts Collective for Christian Life and Faith coordinates and implements the grantmaking strategy.  As part of the grant operations team, this position reports directly to the Associate Director of Grant Operations and coordinates a high volume of grants each year with high attention to detail building effective internal and external relationships. This includes assisting with all grantmaking processes, ensuring compliance while managing a portfolio of grants and grantee relationships.  In addition, the grant coordinator should keep abreast of current events, developments and issues in the field of Christianity and the arts to meet the Creative Arts Collective objectives.

The Creative Arts Collective for Christian Life and Faith (CAC) is a hub for Christian arts based at Belmont University with a primary aim to inspire people from diverse contexts to discover and live the beauty and wisdom of the Christian story and encounter God through the arts. The three objectives of the Creative Arts Collective are creating and curating new art, educating and nurturing Christian imagination, and cultivating and sustaining a thriving network in Christianity and the arts.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Position Responsibilities: 

  • Manage a portfolio of active grants including coordinating all necessary processes and paperwork associated with the grantmaking process including but not limited to award letters, grant agreements, and financial award processing including collaborating with Office of Sponsored Programs as needed to assure accurate, secure, and efficient processing of all grant information
  • Monitor the performance of grants, reviewing periodic reports, and maintaining constructive contact with grantees
  • Assist in the evaluation of programs supported by the grant and ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of expected reports for the University and for funding sources including contributing to end of year reporting
  • Coordinate meetings with grantees and program advisors as needed
  • Participate in the grantmaking review process, conduct background research and help prepare recommendations for grant awards
  • Participate in the implementation, refinement and adaptation of grantmaking strategies and in planning future strategies working directly with the Associate Director of Grant Operations
  • Coordinate communication and training for potential applicants and grantees as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned and support the Associate Director of Grant Operations as needed

Qualifications

  • Ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, relate and compare data from different sources, and identify alternative solutions.
  • Interprets and seeks information, uses independent reasoning to diagnose the root cause of situations or issues, identifies and tests solutions and thinks beyond what is typical or customary. Uses information to determine benefits and impact in making decision and/or recommendations.
  • Ability to coordinate and administer programs/project activities and protocols. Ability to manage resources, monitor activities, and assess risks and quality issues associated with the program/project.
  • Ability to present information to individuals or groups; ability to deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. Ability to convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals either verbally or in writing to ensure that they understand the information and the message. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others. Ability to impact and influence others to further the institution’s strategic objectives.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and basic databases and software. Prior experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
