Job Summary
The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is accepting applications for a Grant Budget Manager position in the Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI), located in Nashville, TN (with work-from-home options). The Grant Budget Manager will work with the Office’s Grant Manager, internal partners, and external partners to conduct analysis, monitoring, and reporting for the CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant and the CDC Public Health Emergency Preparedness Grant budgets. This position will report directly to the Grant Manager and assist in maintaining accurate financial records throughout all stages of the grant periods. The Grant Budget Manager will also provide general budget support to program staff and grant management team members.
- This is a contract position with the State funded through 2027.
- This position can be fully remote but will require travel to Tennessee. If the candidate is local, they may be in the office more often (up to 2 days/week).
Job Responsibilities
- Provide overall management of all grant budget monitoring activities, including updating budget expenditures, preparing and disseminating reports on budget progress, managing timelines, reviewing budgets for grant contracts, submitting requisitions and invoices, and collaborating with program, department staff, and external partners.
- Create an effective system to track budget expenditures.
- Ensure budget compliance with funder regulations.
- Coordinate with team members and external partners for budget revisions.
- Collaborate with team members on progress reports for programs and the funder.
- Support program team with forms required for meeting/training approvals.
- Attend, organize, and/or facilitate project meetings.
- Perform other duties related to grant budget management.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree with a degree in accounting, finance, or related field AND at least three years of professional experience, OR at least four years of professional budget/finance experience, OR at least four years of professional budget related experience with the State of Tennessee.
- Experience working with federal grants is preferred.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Training/education and interest in finance and/or public health
- Experience providing finance assistance and budget support for programs
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify numerical errors
- Experience with purchase orders/requisitions and invoicing
- Intermediate/Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
- Experience working with REDCap is preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting critical deadlines
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work well with diverse team members and partners
