organization’s efforts, including legislative advocacy, grassroots organizing, and
engagement across the state, and issue advance to support high-quality public
education systems across Tennessee.
We are seeking a full-time paid government relations intern for the 2022 Tennessee
General Assembly legislative session. Interns will support and work closely with the
TSS government affairs and advocacy team, as well as its lobbyists daily. Applicants
must reside in Nashville, Tennessee, or possess the ability to reliable commute to
Downtown Nashville daily. The 2022 legislative session is scheduled to being at
noon on January 11, 2022 and continue through mid-May.

Job Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attend, monitor, and notate daily committee hearings and other pertinent
meetings
• Attend and notate Tennessee House and/or Senate sessions
• Aid in state legislation tracking
• Assist with appointment scheduling
• Aid in constructing and distributing bill tracking reports to members of TSS team
• Assist with updating the TSS scorecard
• Perform other duties and tasks, as needed

Qualifications

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALITIES:

• Currently pursuing or have already completed a bachelor’s degree

• Profound attention to detail

• Superb time management skills

• Possess a team-oriented mentality

• Comfortable in a fast-paced work environment with a keen ability to adapt

• Computer proficiency, Microsoft Word and Outlook Calendar application proficiencies preferred

• Ability to take thorough notes

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to act in a professional and respectful manner in all encounters

• Comfortable working in an environment with, sometimes, little oversight

• Discretion in keeping highly sensitive material confidential

A strong interest in learning about the Tennessee legislative process and government
