Job Summary 

The Project Manager is responsible for providing management and operational guidance to Thistle Farms, Shared Trade Programs under the direction of the Global Director. The Project Manager will ensure best practices in international development work to support the goals of the Shared Trade Program and Thistle Farms. In addition, this position will be responsible for ensuring program quality, including the coherence of programming and implementation of Thistle Farms principles.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective program quality, accountability, planning, timely implementation, and management.
  • Provide management to Shared Trade Partners to increase scale and sustainability within multiple programs.
  •  Monitor and evaluate partner program outreach efforts 
  • Coordinates programming curriculum and what deliverables are needed for an annual communication plan
  • Work with Global Director to steward Shared Trade Program funds and budget annually.
  • Report quarterly on program evaluations to the Department Director and Global Advisory Council.
  • Steward relationships with all Shared Trade Partners (34 artisan groups in 21 countries)
  • Work with Global Director and Global Buyer to vet and onboard potential new partners.
  • Work with Global Buyer when product development projects move to a finished product for Global Retail to sell.
  • Schedule and coordinate Initiative Program site visits, 2-4 times a year with the president of Thistle Farms.
  • Liaison with marketing to tell story of programming and outreach efforts

Required Skills and Experience: 

  •  3-5 years of international development and humanitarian programming experience, or lived experience 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player who demonstrates leadership and is able to support staff and is also able to work in a changeable situation in a sensitive and participatory manner.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and manage complex and diverse stakeholder relationships and develop harmonious teams in a cross-cultural context.
  • Proven program management experience and management of teams and budgets.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work and balance competing priorities within demanding timeframes.
  • Excellent understanding of international humanitarian principles and standards, including conflict resolution and gender-sensitive programming methodologies.

Not Required but highly valued:

  • Mid to High Level of competency with writing and spoken: Spanish, French, or Hindi

Type of Position

  • Full Time (40 hrs. per week)
