As a Foster Care Unit Supervisor, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing the operations of the Foster Care program and staff at the respective site location in partnership with leadership. This individual is also responsible for maintaining consistency with professional standards, licensing regulations, COA standards and contractual outcome-based standards.
This position is expected to function effectively with little supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide weekly supervision to staff and participate in staff meetings
  • Cultivate a positive, team centered work environment
  • Supervise staff consistent with job requirements, program and agency expectations, state licensing requirements and COA standards
  • Regularly assess each family’s status with the Case Manager to ensure quality assessments
  • Distribute case assignments in a fair and equitable manner
  • Participate in program committees that address service delivery systems and implement the appropriate program developments
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures for staff evaluations, conference and training requests, timekeeping, and reimbursement requests
  • Hire, on-board, and train staff effectively to ensure efficient operations
  • Ensure that outcome measures of contracts are met timely and efficiently
  • Develop and maintain the foster care and licensing operating manuals
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget, goals, and objectives
  • Collaborate with other program staff to ensure effective coordination of services between foster care, licensing, and adoption units
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance position and professional relationships with referral sources, community agencies, courts, and individuals
  • Participate in community forums relevant to primary job responsibilities
  • Ensure the on-call schedule meets the programs service needs
  • Maintain an awareness of current trends, theories, state licensing regulations, legislation and practices through the review of professional journals and literature, participation in relevant educational forums
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Master’s level degree in Human Service, Social Work, or equivalent field of study
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a foster care position within a child welfare agency
  • Active Child Welfare Certification in the state of the work location may be required
  • At least one (1) year of experience managing others
  • Demonstrate excellent assessment, therapeutic and crisis intervention skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions
  • Active motor vehicle license and a reliable automobile with adequate insurance coverage
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Cultural Diversity Commitment
