Job Summary
Objective: To administer the financial and business operations and provide support to the human resource operations of the Center for Youth Ministry Training.
Supervision: The Finance Director reports to the Operations Director and to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors
Hours/Compensation: 20 hours per week, Scheduling is flexible
Notes: CYMT uses Paylocity for payroll and HR administrative functions and QuickBooks for Nonprofits for accounting purposes. CYMT has a consultant relationship with Martin & Zerfoss for some HR & Benefit needs. In office hours are regularly needed to support the organization, but hours are flexible and adjustable to meet the needs of CYMT and the employee. Remote work can be performed on occasion.
About CYMT: The Center for Youth Ministry Training equips leaders and communities of faith to develop innovative, effective, and theologically informed ministries so youth may experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ, leading to identity and purpose. The CYMT accomplishes this mission through three primary initiatives: the Graduate Residency in Youth Ministry, in partnership with Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary; Theology Together; and the Innovation Laboratory. CYMT was created in 2006.
Job Responsibilities
Financial Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day financial functions including payroll, invoicing, bills, printing checks, and deposits
- Reconciles bank statements, company issued credit cards, credit card processing (including Stripe and PayPal), and other financial statements
- Works with the Development Associate to ensure that donation records are reconciled with QuickBooks
- Manages financial flow of sales of online products and resources
- Ensures fiscal policies and procedures are followed
- Works with auditor to provide needed materials annually
- Processes reimbursement requests for staff and graduate residents
- Provides quarterly and EOY reports to the Finance Committee, staff, and Executive Director
- Creates financial reports for major grants
- Works with the Operations Director and Executive Director on budget development
- End of Year Payroll Tax processing including 1099’s and W-2’s
Business Administration:
- Ensures CYMT is filed correctly in all states where CYMT employees work
- Maintains tax exempt status and certificates
HR Responsibilities:
- Manages Paylocity systems
- Manages personnel employment files
- Sets up new employees in payroll and ensures the correct policies and features are assigned in Paylocity
- Tracks paid time off (Vacation and Personal days) through Paylocity
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or extended relevant professional experience
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of financial accounting experience
- Non-profit experience is not a requirement but a plus
- Knowledge of or ability to learn QuickBooks Accounting Software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
