Job Summary

The Family Coach, Nurturing Families is integral in helping TFC pursue our mission of breaking multigenerational cycles of childhood trauma by leading 1:1 family coaching in homes, safe spaces, and through virtual platforms. This position requires a forward thinking, proactive, and client focused approach to program delivery, including embracing curiosity as a means to learn and grow personally and professionally, greeting challenges with flexibility and a collaborative approach, and pursuing excellence in work products and community presence.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • provide empathic coaching for parents and children based on the Nurturing Parenting curriculum through an interactive process of observation, discussion, and reflection which

promote the parent/caregiver’s ability to grow toward identified family goals

  • help families develop goals for coaching sessions
  • for families shifting from Positive Parenting… Plus!, participate in at least one group session to ensure cohesive transition
  • coordinate with families to schedule in-home coaching sessions
  • develop individualized family plans and goals to guide each in-home coaching session
  • monitor family’s progress on a weekly basis
  • enter and update client information, including case notes, into TFC’s database regularly
  • actively participate in TFC staff meetings
  • cross-train in other program areas and serve as back-up when needed
  • participate in ongoing professional development
  • be open to new program initiatives and partnerships supporting TFC’s strategic direction
  • engage collaboratively with TFC staff, volunteers, and community partners
  • embrace & demonstrate core organizational values
  • ensure all program activities operate within TFC’s policies including sensitivity and inclusiveness regarding cultural, religious, ethnic, gender and sexual diversity, and comply with relevant legislation and professional standards

Qualifications

Required Capabilities, Skills, & Knowledge:

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field; 2 years direct client service delivery

  • Master’s required in previously stated area
  • bi-lingual in Spanish or other languages a plus
  • knowledge of and/or experience in Adverse Childhood Experiences/Adverse Community Environments (ACEs)
  • in-home, correctional facility, substance abuse, school based setting(s} experience a plus
  • comfort level and empathetic approach in working with vulnerable families
  • ability to effectively interact, communicate, and collaborate with people from diverse racial, cultural, religious, or gender identifying backgrounds
  • self-initiator, fast learner, team player
  • highly developed interpersonal skills and high level of confidence
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • proficiency in MS Office Suite; utilization of or ability to learn SalesForce
  • confidence and competence in learning and using existing and new technologies
  • excellent organizational and project management skills
  • capable of meeting challenging deadlines while “herding cats”
  • 2+ years of clinical experience
  • must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • openness to a work culture that is very fast paced and growing rapidly across Middle TN

This is a full-time exempt position that requires evening and weekend commitments throughout the year.  Local travel is required, and occasional national travel may be expected. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and organizational budget.
