Job Summary

Do you want a meaningful and impactful career helping to empower youth through literacy? East Nashville Hope Exchange (ENHE), a Nashville-based non-profit with a mission to strengthen literacy levels of at-risk youth, is seeking an organized, innovative, and passionate professional to lead the organization. ENHE operates under the premise that literacy is a social justice issue, and that every child has the right to engage with their community in a meaningful way, the foundation of which is learning to read and reading to learn.

The Executive Director is the leader and outward facing brand of East Nashville Hope Exchange. The Executive Director is responsible for the success of the program, which includes a combination of development, administrative, strategic, and programmatic elements. Our mission is carried out through a 6-week summer program, a school year program, family engagement, personalized reading support, and tutoring.

The ideal candidate would have a passion for childhood literacy, have experience working in a small organization (preferably a non-profit), and be enthusiastic about shaping the future of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

Mission and Strategy: Works with Board of Directors and staff to ensure that East Nashville Hope Exchange’s mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.

Financial Performance and Viability: Oversees resources to ensure the financial health of the organization.

Fundraising, Development, and Branding: Develops and solicits individual donations, corporate donations, and grants to the organization.

Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree with experience in the education industry preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Three or more years of nonprofit management experience and/or education industry experience
  • Budget management skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to develop and implement fundraising plans on the individual and corporate levels
  • Ability to develop and convey a vision of ENHE’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate staff, students, and volunteers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Ability to inspire different audiences through public speaking

Additional Information

Benefits

Starting salary is $65,000 annually, with opportunity for annual bonus. Employee benefits include a flexible working environment, remote opportunities, and PTO. Health insurance is not provided at this time.
