Job Summary

The African American Heritage Society of Williamson County is looking for a competent Executive Director to manage this growing non-profit organization. The director will work closely with the board, volunteers, community leaders and donors to continue to be a voice in the community and identify ways to increase membership, fundraising, promote learning of historic African American history as well as new issues that affect the African American Community.

Job Responsibilities

Work with board and office staff to optimize procedures

* Non-Profit work or proven track record of fundraising 

* Experience with grant writing and procedures

* Maintain correspondence in a timely manner 

* Schedule and plan meetings and appointments

* Plan, execute and oversee yearly events

* Work with local and state media

* Experienced with social media platforms

* Updates and contributes to the monthly director’s corner

* Respond to requests or issues

* Coordinate with board members regarding upcoming events and meetings and report to Board President

* Maintain trusting relationships with volunteers and partners

* Oversee the maintenance and growth of the McLemore House and Merrill- Williamson Home

*Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally and climb stairs to AAHS office

Qualifications

A successful Executive Director candidate will have the following prerequisite skills and expertise to qualify for this position:

  • Excellent leadership and organizational abilities
  • Knowledgeable of African American culture
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft office and excel
  • Outstanding negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • First-class people skills
  • Experience setting budgets and managing financial goals
  • Demonstrated success in practical solutions to increase productivity
  • Non-profit experience
  • Social media experience
  • Schedule: 15 – 20 hours a week – In Office & Remote 

 Minimum 5 years experience working in a director or management role. Bachelor’s Degree in nonprofit administration or field closely related to the mission of the organization.
