Job Summary
The Executive Director of the Nashville Bar Association is the chief executive officer of the NBA, serving as a full-time exempt salaried employee of the Nashville Bar Association under the supervision of the NBA Board of Directors in conducting the affairs of the Association. The Director also serves as the Executive Director of the Nashville Bar Foundation.
Job Responsibilities
The Director manages a staff of 5-6 employees, an annual operating budget of approximately $1.1 million and the assets of all entities.
As the CEO, the Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Association under the policies determined by Board.
S/he plans, formulates, and recommends policies and programs, including financial and budgeting programs, consistent with sound fiscal management and the Association’s strategic plan.
The Director is responsible for the assurance of the fiscal integrity and sound financial management of the NBA. S/he oversees the development and management of appropriate budgetary and financial controls and procedures, including the annual audit, and ensures proper administration of all authorized procedures regarding funds management.
The Director concurrently serves as Executive Director of the Nashville Bar Foundation, with similar assigned duties and responsibilities to those above.
Qualifications
- Established record of administrative, management, and financial supervisory experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Capable of working effectively with people of all backgrounds at all levels
- Experience with a professional or nonprofit organization, or comparable experience
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and management skills
- Experience and ability in volunteer management
- Experience in multi-tasking and teamwork
- Law or other advanced degree preferred
