Job Summary

The organization seeks an experienced Independent Contractor to work part-time on a contract or freelance basis in the role of Philanthropic Support Consultant for SFS. The Consultant will work independently, collaborating with the SFS Board of Directors and support staff as needed, to cultivate philanthropic support for SFS through major gifts, direct mail, book sales and other forms of support from sponsors and corporate partners. The Consultant will use his/her expertise to assist the SFS Board of Directors in creating marketing plans and program initiatives.  The Consultant will generally work remotely but will be expected to make occasional visits to the SFS offices, as necessary.

The position will focus on marketing, sales, and development (fundraising), but will also require the Consultant to collaborate with the Board of Directors on governance and administrative issues.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Consult with the SFS Board of Directors to establish annual fundraising goals.
  • Generate philanthropic funds for special projects.
  • Increase annual sales revenue.
  • Cultivate strong additions to current client relationships for maximum devotional book distribution.
  • Meet SFS book distribution targets for all available formats.
  • Work independently, but in consultation with the president of the board and the full board to create additional challenging, achievable goals.
  • Give clear and accountable directions to persons who support the work of SFS as needed to effectively provide services to SFS, including persons who support the distribution of books and related materials, and college interns serving SFS.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5-10 years in development (fundraising), management, or marketing.
  • Skills/Competencies: Microsoft Office, Excel, and engagement with the public.
  • Works well with limited supervision but knows when to request more information and guidance.
  • Excellent presentation skills and excellent writing skills.
  • Availability to travel to events and meetings with donors.

Knowledge and experience dealing with the military, first responders and medical personnel are very desirable.

 

 

Additional Information

Benefits

  • The Consultant will be responsible for setting his/her own schedule, allocating approximately 19 hours per week to providing services to SFS.
  • No retirement, health or dental insurance provided.
  • The Consultant will be reimbursed from time to time for reasonable and necessary expenses incurred by Consultant in connection with providing services to SFS.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work with limited guidance. Nonprofit experience is preferred.   

Contract Term

Term of contract expected to commence on August 1, 2021 with flexibility to start earlier for the right candidate. Contract will be terminable by either party upon thirty days written notice.  On-the-job training will be provided during initial period of contract.
