Job Summary

The executive director is responsible for the overall administration and management of the 15th Judicial District Child Advocacy Center (CAC), including all programs, fundraising activities, and general operations. Areas of responsibility include planning and evaluation, policy development and administration, personnel and fiscal management, and public relations. This is a full-time position, hired by and directly accountable to the board of directors (Board) through its board president.

Job Responsibilities

ADMINISTRATION

  • Performs the overall administrative tasks necessary for the effective operation of the CAC.
  • Implement the Board policy and committee work plans.
  • Identify and employ staff to carry out the program.
  • Integrate and coordinate staff functions, delegate staff responsibilities, and supervise staff in carrying out assigned tasks.
  • Establish procedures with the CAC.

COORDINATION

  • Establish and maintain adequate space for personnel assigned to work at the CAC.
  • Participate in and coordinate Child Protective Investigation Team (CPIT) reviews for each county served by the CAC.
  • Provide counseling to children and non-offending family members.
  • Provide staff to provide direct services, which support the child and non-offending family.
  • Provide and file all necessary reports connected to an investigation.
  • Coordinate efforts necessary to assure ongoing training of all personnel involved in the services of the CAC.

FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Maintain records of income and expenses that assure efficient use of all CAC resources with the Board Treasurer.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Board Treasurer, to assure that adequate funds are on hand to carry out the mission of the CAC.
  • Maintain a search for additional funding sources such as federal, state, and local grants and foundations.
  • Cooperate with the Board in community fund-raising.
  • PLANNING FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain statistics of reports and open cases of child abuse in all counties in the 15th Judicial District, per policy.
  • Prepare a strategic plan for the CAC’s future ability to meet the demands brought about by growth.
  • Coordinate the planning of the agencies involved to assure that the CAC will continue to be relevant in its response to child abuse.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

  • Initiate and maintain monitoring/evaluation systems for both the programmatic and fiscal aspects of services provided by the CAC.
  • Prepare timely and necessary reports and statistics required by the Board, funding sources, and the public.
  • Monitor and as needed, revise all forms used in case-related activities as well as statistical information.
  • Monitor and update policies from the national, state, and local agencies.

WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE BOARD

  • Initiate and work with the Board, officers, and committee members on the Board orientation, and education, and in developing programs, policies, and guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of agendas in cooperation with the President.
  • Keep all records pertaining to the Board, including, but not limited to the Board membership lists, minutes of meetings, etc.
  • Attend all Board meetings and report on the CAC’s operation.

COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS

  • Participate in National, State, and local organizations concerned about child abuse.
  • Monitor all media coverage of the CAC and its activities.
  • Provide public education and professional training in the community.
  • Network with community providers to develop appropriate treatment resources for the clients.
  • Be the spokesperson for the CAC in the community.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES ASSIGNED BY THE BOARD

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a field related to social science, education, criminal justice, nursing, psychology, or other helping profession; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience equivalent to three (3) years of full-time professional work in one or a combination of the following: child protective services, criminal justice, clinical evaluation, forensic interviewing, or other comparable work with children.
  • Professional knowledge of child abuse and neglect and child development (through coursework, professional training, or higher education).
  • Experience with interdisciplinary teamwork.

Requirements

  • The executive director shall have no criminal history as determined through a criminal background check.
  • Must adhere to confidentiality policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to the CPIT Protocol and Memorandum of Understanding
