The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, and organized and have a knack for research. Seeking someone who believes in the mission of Hospice of Southern Kentucky and has exceptional drive for furthering our fundraising efforts as well as strategizing and delivering on new ideas.
Objectives
- Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work
- Cultivate a network of dedicated donors
- Spot new fundraising opportunities
- Plan fundraising initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals
- Form strong relationships with existing and future donors
- Ensure major donors are satisfied and updated on organizational operations and goals
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that are interested in gift-giving
- Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors
- Write grant applications, fundraising proposals, and donor newsletters
- Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns
- Support fundraising events while working with teams of volunteers/employees
- Chair event committees and organize regular meetings
- Coordinate quarterly committee meetings with the Board Fundraising Committee
- Prepare Annual Report to comply with nonprofit best practices
- Assist in the development and implementation of long-term planned giving campaigns
- Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met
- Attend community Chamber networking events in our service area to develop community presence and cultivate donor relationships
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum three years experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or grant writing
- CFRE Certification obtained within one year of employment
- Exceptional communication, listening, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers
- Strong attention to detail
- Passion for research
- Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning big events
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work well independently as well as with team members
- Motivated, reliable, trustworthy characteristics
- Positive demeanor and ethical behavior
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, business, public relations, or related field (preferred)
- Competence with donor management systems
- Experience in writing grant proposals and fundraising letters
- Confidence in public speaking
- Legal or accounting knowledge related to nonprofit organizational structure
