Job Summary

Mercy Community Healthcare is looking for an energetic, self-motivated Director of Risk Management, with a passion for making a difference in the lives of those we serve in our community. In this position, you will provide vision and leadership cross-organizationally to develop and oversee the implementation of a combination of risk management functions including education and support to staff involving employee and patient safety/security to ensure an effective and efficient risk management and compliance program.

What Is This Job All About?

  • Review/monitor/train all appropriate staff in collaboration with operations staff, on existing compliance policies and procedures to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability.
  • Identify changes in applicable rules, regulations, standards, and related trends that are relevant to avoid or minimize identified risks to the organization.
  • Recommend necessary modifications to policies and procedures to leadership that achieve year-over-year reductions in the volume and total cost of employment-related claims.
  • Develop, initiate, maintain, and revise policies and procedures directed.
  • Ensure proper reporting of compliance violations to enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
  • Review and draft contracts and provide advisement regarding compliance with applicable privacy, data security laws, standards, and policies, including our Privacy Guidelines.
  • Investigate reported violations of regulatory requirements and the development and recommendations of appropriate corrective actions under the direction of COO and with coordination of the HR Director.
  • Develop, conduct, and maintain an internal audit/investigation and training program regarding regulatory compliance issues and other legal matters; including but not limited to annual risk assessment, vendor/contract audits, policy/process audits. Review, coordinate, and train staff regarding outcomes.
  • Oversees external regulatory audits and responds to requests for information regarding but not limited to subpoenas, inquiries involving medical records, payer audits, HRSA audits, State audits, etc. Review, coordinate and train staff regarding outcomes.

What We Need from You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management/Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Two to five years’ experience in Risk Management, HIPAA compliance or Health Care Administration preferred.
  • Must possess and exercise diplomacy and kindness in all interactions.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office 365 applications, including SharePoint Online.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Project management experience,
  • AthenaHealth experience and ACMPE or HIPAA Certified a plus.
